Ex-Cubs bullpen catcher sentenced

A former Chicago Cubs bullpen catcher has been sentenced to two years’ probation for attempted possession of more than a pound of marijuana in Nebraska.
The Lincoln Journal Star reports that Corey J. Miller, of Oakhurst, Calif., was sentenced Monday. He pleaded guilty to the charge in a deal with prosecutors that reduced the original charge of delivery of or intent to deliver illegal drugs. Court records show Miller was stopped on Interstate 80 near Lincoln on Oct. 29 for speeding.
A search of the vehicle turned up a small amount of marijuana in bag of baby formula, and 8.4 pounds of the drug were found in a suitcase. At the time, Miller was a bullpen catcher for the Cubs, but he now works for a freight company.
