Barrington wins historic preservation grant

The village of Barrington has received a $3,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation from the Donnelley Preservation Fund for Illinois. The seed grant funds will be used to prepare an existing conditions and feasibility study to ensure the proper restoration and reuse of the John Robertson House at 145 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road) in downtown Barrington. The village purchased the property in 2007 with the intent of restoring and reusing the structure as a cultural center for the community on the first floor and quasi-public offices on the second and third floors.
