Dining events: Wheaton's Smashburger now open

Wheaton Smashburger

Smashburger recently opened its doors in Wheaton. Specialties include the Windy City Burger with melted cheddar cheese, haystack onions, lettuce, tomato and Gulden's mustard on a pretzel bun. Wash it down with a Green River float or a specialty craft beer.

Fries-free kid meals

Joe's Crab Shack wants kids to eat healthy. The restaurant has added new healthy options for children including the kids' snow crab served with fresh corn on the cob, steamed rice and apple juice; or the kids' simply grilled shrimp served with corn, rice and orange juice. Applesauce is also offered as a healthy side.

Too hot to man the grill at your upcoming party? Nick's Pizza and Pub has several catering specials available through Aug. 31. Choose the classic package with a salad, baked mostaccioli and garlic Parmesan breadsticks for $125. Or try the ultimate package with pasta bruschetta, homemade Italian beef and sausage, French bread and coleslaw for $130. Packages serve 20 people.
