Flooding, thunderstorm, excessive heat warnings

An excessive heat warning remains in effect throughout the suburbs until 9 p.m. according to the National Weather Service.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for southwestern Lake County and south central Will County.

A flash flood warning has been issued for southern Cook and Kane counties as well as parts of Kedall and Will counties.

The NOAA reports slow moving thunderstorms along a line from Sugar Grove to Chicago.

Two to three inches already have fallen in some areas. Rainwater runoff will cause flash flooding, the NOAA says in Bolingbrook, Oswego, Plainfield, Romeoville, Yorkville and a half-dozen other areas in southern Cook County.
