Enjoy Back to School Fest in Round Lake

Mano-a-Mano Family Resource Center and Round Lake Area B.E.S.T (Bringing Everyone's Strengths Together) will host a Back-to-School Festival on Sunday.

Consumers Credit Union is the "Presenting Sponsor" for the event, from noon to 4 p.m. at Round Lake High School, 800 High School Drive in Round Lake.

"Making sure our children are prepared for the upcoming school year should always be one of our top priorities" said Sean M. Rathjen, CCU president. "Since the children of today are no doubt the leaders of tomorrow, it is our responsibility to make sure they have all the tools necessary to succeed — one of the many reasons the credit union is so very proud to be the presenting sponsor for the back-to-school festival."

Admission is free to area residents. This year's activities include games, raffles, food and music, along with an important extra benefit: free back-to-school health screenings.

Healthcare providers will conduct free school physicals and provide no-cost health education. Participating health care providers include Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, Smile Programs-Mobile Dentist and Chiro One Wellness Center.

Round Lake Area Unit District 116 will also have a convenient on-site registration (usual fees apply), along with other helpful back-to-school information.

In addition to sponsoring the event, Consumers Credit Union will offer products designed just for students during the festival.

Examples include Student Choice Checking and Student Choice VISA, products created to promote financial education for students ages 13 and up. For younger children and students 12 and under, the credit union will provide a variety of games, stickers and prizes. Sponsorship proceeds from this year's festival will support Mano-a-Mano Family Resource Center's programs. Examples include English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED classes, computer instruction, their employment connection program, health education and others.
