Mill Creek Elementary losing principal to central office

Mill Creek Elementary School in Geneva will have a new principal in the fall.

George Petmezas, formerly the assistant principal of Geneva Middle School North, will serve as interim principal. He replaces Andrew Barrett, who has been named interim director of curriculum development for the district.

Barrett replaces Kathy Pease, who resigned. According to a letter Barrett sent to Mill Creek parents, Pease took a job in another school district.

“I feel very confident in saying that these last five years have been some of the best of my life, and I know that I owe so much of that joy to the amazing families and children here at Mill Creek School. I want you to know that the prospect of leaving you has troubled me greatly in recent days, and weighed heavily on me as I made this decision,” Barrett wrote.

The school board approved the moves Monday night.
