Bartlett Parks Foundation Turbo Turtle Race fundraiser a success

On July 4, over 500 plastic turtles took the plunge into the Bartlett Aquatic Center in hopes of securing a prize for their corresponding ticket holders. With a first-place cash prize of $1,000 and second place at $250 as well as 54 other donated prizes there was a reason to cheer.

With their feet dipped in the pool to cool off their toes, the ticket holders anxiously awaited for the turtles to file into the shoot and secure their spot on the prize board. The Annual Turbo Turtle Race is one of the fundraising events that the Bartlett Parks Foundation holds to support its mission of assisting the park district with funding projects that are not appropriated through tax dollars. Some of those initiatives include the resident financial aid program which helps fund recreational experiences to residents that are in need, statues/art in the parks and programming at the Bartlett Nature Center.

This year the turtle race brought in over $5,500 from ticket receipts and generous sponsors including Moretti’s Restaurant, Featherstone Construction, Williams Construction Management, Williams Associates Architects, Speer Financial, American Chartered Bank, Harris Bank, FGM Architects, North of the Border Restaurant and the prize donors. Prizes totaling $5,400 were donated from a variety of park districts, recreational facilities, restaurants and individuals.

Thank you to everyone who supported the event by purchasing turtle tickets and to our donors for their support.
