Ÿ Authorities are investigating a pair of suspicious vehicle fires, both of which occurred Thursday morning, reports said. Police and fire departments were dispatched to the first fire at 3:22 a.m. inside a light blue 2000 Lincoln Town Car parked on the 200 block of Orchard Street. During the investigation, police discovered the car’s owner had an active warrant out for his arrest, but police couldn’t find him, reports said. In the end, the vehicle was subsequently towed for further investigation. The second fire occurred about 80 minutes later and involved a gray 1995 Nissan Quest minivan parked on the 100 block of Seneca Street, police said. According to reports, the fire originated inside the van and all of its doors were unlocked. The van’s owner said he has had past problems with his building’s management and neighbors.

Ÿ Between April 3 and Wednesday, someone stole a pair of license plates from a garage on the 300 block of Hickory Place, put them on a vehicle and drove through I-PASS lanes without paying, police said. The plates’ owner discovered this once she started getting notices from the Illinois Tollway Authority about her owing money from her old license plates, reports said. She suspects a man staying with her stole the plates and she later canceled them by phoning the Illinois Secretary of State.

Ÿ Between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, someone egged a Chevrolet Aveo that was parked on the 1600 block of St. Andrew Circle, police said.
