Antioch man faces sex abuse charges
A Cook County judge ordered an Antioch man charged with sexually abusing a child held on $100,000 bond Thursday.
Judge Kay Hanlon also ordered Timothy Harte, of the 2600 block of W. Woodland, to have no contact with anyone under age 18. Cook County Assistant Public Defender Melissa Wright objected, saying Harte has children under 18. Hanlon, however, was undeterred.
Harte, 40, faces predatory criminal sexual assault charges stemming from several incidents that occurred between 2001 and 2005 in Elgin, Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Walsh said.
The child, who was younger than 12 years old at the time of the abuse, said Harte threatened to hurt her if she reported him, Walsh said.
Harte’s background includes probation in 2000 for possession of a controlled substance and one year supervision for carrying a firearm in public in 1993.
He next appears in court on Aug. 4.
