TCM brings film classics to DVD

Turner Classic Movies and Warner Home Video teamed up together in 2009 to release themed collections of films that the public would want to own. Each collection featured four films with special features.

There are five new collections, and each one features four films and special features including newsreels, featurettes, trailers, production notes, vintage cartoons, commentary and more.

“TCM Greatest Classic Legends: Elizabeth Taylor” — “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” “Father of the Bride,” “Butterfield 8” and “The Sandpiper”

“TCM Greatest Classic Legends: Burt Lancaster” — “Local Hero,” “Seven Days in May,” “Executive Action” and “The Flame and the Arrow”

“TCM Greatest Classic Legends: Lucille Ball” — “The Long, Long Trailer,” “Forever Darling,” “Room Service” and “Du Barry Was A Lady”

“TCM Greatest Classic Films: Shakespeare” — “A Midsummer Night's Dream” with James Cagney, Olivia de Havilland and Mickey Rooney; “Othello” with Laurence Olivier; “Romeo and Juliet” with Norma Shearer and Leslie Howard; and “Anthony and Cleopatra” with Charlton Heston and Hildegard Neil

“TCM Greatest Classic Films: Literary Romance” — “Little Women” with June Allyson and Elizabeth Taylor; “Pride and Prejudice” with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson; “Anna Karenina” with Greta Garbo; and “Madame Bovary” with Jennifer Jones and Louis Jourdan

“B.B. King: Live”

For those of you who have seen B.B. King live, you will love watching the king of the blues performing live in this small club atmosphere. This terrific show features B.B. and some of his trademark songs including “The Thrill is Gone,” “Everyday I Have the Blues,” “Downhearted,” “Let the Good Times Roll,” “Nobody Loves Me But My Mother” and more.

“James Taylor: Live at The Beacon Theatre”

In 1998, James Taylor played live at New York's Beacon Theater, and this was the first concert broadcast live nationwide on PBS. The DVD includes Taylor performing 25 songs, interviews and promotional videos. Some of the songs include: “Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight,” “Shower the People,” “Up on the Roof,” “Mexico,” “You've Got a Friend,” “Fire and Rain” and “Handy Man.”

“Celine Dion: A Decade of Song & Video”

Celine Dion has sold millions of records and has fans all over the world. Her fans can now enjoy some of her biggest hits live along with her videos.
