Alton police probe shooting death of man in car
ALTON — Police in the Mississippi River city of Alton are investigating the death of a 22-year-old man who was gunned down as he sat in his rental car.
Alton police Capt. Scott Waldrup tells The (Alton) Telegraph that Marlon Poindexter was shot in the head Monday at close-range while sitting in the vehicle with two other people.
Poindexter died six hours later at a St. Louis hospital.
Waldrup isn't publicly discussing possible motives for the shooting.
There's no word on any arrests or charges.
