Village of Lombard responds to storm damages

LOMBARD, Illinois— The Village of Lombard is recovering from the impact of a brief but mighty storm that occurred early Monday morning. Power outages and debris were widespread throughout the area. The Lombard Public Works Department is continuing their efforts to clean-up debris left in the wake of the storm.

“At this point, crews are removing trees and brush from parkway trees downed in the storm, in accordance with Village Board Storm Debris Management Policy,” said Carl Goldsmith, Lombard's Director of Public Works Department.

Goldsmith reminds residents that any materials from private property should be disposed of in agreement with the Waste Management contract. Material must be bundled and not exceed six feet in length and 50 pounds per bundle. “We anticipate the clean-up efforts to be completed by the end of the week,” added Goldsmith.

Power and some traffic signals were out for parts of the Village on Monday. Stops signs were put in place of non-working traffic signals. Goldsmith encourages residents to use caution while driving through the intersections without working traffic lights.

A ComEd representative has informed the Village that as of Tuesday morning there are approximately 1000 customers still without power, down from 4000 units the day before. To report a problem with your power or questions regarding ComEd outages, call (800) Edison-1 or refer to ComEd website for power outage locations www.comed.com.
