Cougars keep division lead

Thanks to 6 shutout innings from Greg Billo, 3 RBI from Cheslor Cuthbert and a 3-inning save from Chase Boruff, the Kane County Cougars maintained sole possession of first place in the Midwest League’s Western Division on Friday night.

They never trailed and beat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 6-1 at Time Warner Cable Field in Appleton, Wis., to take two of three in the series.

Cuthbert hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth, and the Cougars batted around in the inning as Kevin David and Geulin Beltre delivered RBI singles and Orlando Calixte scored on an error to make it 4-0.

Cuthbert produced a 2-run single in the fifth to give the Cougars a 6-0 lead.

The Racers went on to score 4 runs.Scorpions 1, Fielders 0: The Lake County Fielders lost a close one to the Yuma Scorpions late Thursday, ending a four-game winning streak.Zac Cline (2-4) got the loss for the Fielders, but he threw a complete game, only allowing 4 hits with a season-best 9 strikeouts.The only run Cline gave up was a fielder#146;s choice from Jared McDonald in the fourth inning.
