Soccer coach pleads not guilty to sex abuse

A Crest Hill youth soccer and volleyball coach has pleaded not guilty to molesting a 12-year-old boy.

Twenty-four-year-old Darrell Stephenson of Crest Hill was charged earlier this month with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Days later he was charged with several counts of possession of child pornography after investigators allegedly found child pornography on an external computer hard drive.

The Chicago Tribune reports Stephenson remains in custody at Will County Adult Detention Center.

Will County State's Attorney spokesman Chuck Pelkie says Stephenson pleaded not guilty to all charges Tuesday.

Authorities say Stephenson was a youth soccer coach in Frankfort, Plainfield and Joliet. He is accused of molesting the boy between September and November.

He's due back in a Will County court Aug. 2.
