Garden party benefits Fox Valley hospice

Submitted by Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice

The Q Center in St. Charles hosted the May 13 Garden Party, the signature event to benefit the Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice.

The afternoon event brought together more than 800 individuals, including Kristen Johnson, vice president of the FVVH board of directors and property manager at Batavia Enterprises Inc., and Mike Miller, Garden Party Committee member and BEI Maintenance Professional, dedicated to supporting this volunteer-based, community organization and raised more than $250,000.

The Garden Party is an annual event that provides an afternoon of entertainment, while raising funds for the hospice to continue providing practical, spiritual and emotional support to individuals with life-threatening and terminal illnesses as well as to grieving persons and their families. Highlights of the day included a silent and live auction and a delicious lunch.

The auctioneers, known as the “Famously Fun” Aurora Firefighters, auctioned items ranging from a condo in Cancun, Mexico, to Crosstown Classic Baseball tickets, to a five-night stay at the National Golf and Country Club in Lake Geneva, Wis.

Proceeds went to funding the largest volunteer hospice in the United States as Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice continues its 30th year of service to the local community.

“The Garden Party is a fun-filled afternoon for our supporters and friends. Batavia Enterprises is proud to support the Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice and their wonderful efforts for individuals and families in their time of need. This volunteer organization offers amazing care and comfort to patients and their loved ones,” said Kristen Johnson.
