Truck hits Buffalo Grove stoplight, snaps powerline

A portion of Buffalo Grove lost power Tuesday night after an 18-wheeler knocked over a stoplight, which toppled and snapped a power line on Arlington Heights Road.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Arlington Heights and Nichols Roads at about 7:20 p.m. to close the two roadways after the line was snapped sending sparks flying, Buffalo Grove Police Sgt. Anthony Gallagher said.

Police said a semitrailer was turning onto Arlington Heights Road from eastbound Nichols when it hit an overhead stoplight.

Some of the neighborhood around the intersection lost power while ComEd crews worked to repair the line.

No one was injured during the incident.
