Naperville woman gets jail for stealing from job

NAPERVILLE — A suburban Chicago woman has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge on accusations she stole nearly $900,000 from an Aurora consulting firm.

Officials say 53-year-old Tami Brown of Naperville was vice president at Engineering Systems Inc. On Tuesday she admitted to stealing more than $100,000. As part of a plea agreement she was sentenced to two years of probation and six months in jail.

Brown had faced up to 15 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Brown illegally charged personal expenses to a corporate credit card over seven years. The money was spent on personal expenses, like dinners, groceries and hotels.

Brown was caught when a colleague became suspicious. An internal company audit found the thefts.
