General to speak in Burlington

Brigadier General Joseph A. Lanni will be the guest speaker at Burlington's Independence Day Celebration at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3, at Burlington Park, off South Street and Deutsch Road.

Lanni from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, has served 35 years in the Air Force, including his time at the Air Force Academy where he majored in mathematics and engineering.

A graduate of the Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base, he began his career as a test pilot that lasted throughout his service. Lanni commanded the test program for the world's most advanced aircraft, the F-22 Raptor on which he accumulated several hundred hours of test flight. He also flew the first flight on numerous classified prototype aircraft.

The program will be followed by the grand fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day. The public is invited to picnic at the park. For details, call (847) 867-4061.
