Two “excellent” ribbons were awarded to both Mikayla Henke and Emily Hough. Caroline Jumper was awarded a “superior” ribbon, and Stacy Wilcox received two of the “superior” ribbons for an oil painting and a charcoal piece, named second place best in show and fourth place best in show respectively.
In total, the Westlake representatives received one “good” ribbon, six “excellent” ribbons and three “superior” ribbons.
“They did great! I am really proud of their hard work,” exclaimed secondary art teacher Carmen Gilbert.
Westlake Christian Academy is a coeducational, independent Christian school composed of about 200 preschool through senior high school students, each of whom is provided with a solid, Christ-centered education that disciples them to honor Jesus Christ in thought, word and deed.
The school’s mission is to nurture the spiritual, academic and social maturation of Christian young people through a well-rounded education which includes scholastics, athletics, the arts, and community service in a nondenominational, evangelical context.
Founded in Waukegan in 1972, Westlake Christian Academy relocated to its permanent home in Grayslake in 2002.
It is recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International, which provides certification for teachers based on their qualifications in their academic area, Biblical studies, and the Christian philosophy of education.
