Sky's Canty out with knee injury

Veteran guard Dominique Canty is expected to miss the next three weeks of the Chicago Sky's WNBA season after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery Thursday on her left knee.

“It is unfortunate we will lose Dominique for a period of time,” said Pokey Chatman, Sky head coach and general manager. “She is a valuable leader on the court, and our younger, more inexperienced players will need to mature quickly for us to compete against the best of the Eastern Conference.”

Canty, a 5-9 guard from the University of Alabama, is in her fifth year with the Sky and 13th year in the WNBA. She has averaged 7.5 points and 2.8 assists in 24.5 minutes over 158 games in her career, the 11th most games played by any player in the history of the league.
