Rolling Meadows judges to be honored

Two Rolling Meadows courthouse judges are being honored by the Northwest Suburban Bar Association for their dedicated work in the courtroom and in the community.

The association will be presenting its highest honor, the President’s Award for Distinguished Public Service, to Judges James P. Etchingham and Joel L. Greenblatt Thursday night at the association’s installation dinner.

The bar association’s incoming president, Donald Cosley, said the two judges, who frequently preside over domestic violence cases, were an easy choice.

“That courtroom is one of the most difficult ones in the building. You’ve got very heated cases,” Cosley said. “They are doing the work of multiple judges on any given day.”

Cosley credited the judges for their ability to manage the courtroom in their own style, and their determination to do the right thing when it comes to such difficult cases.

“I know Judge Etchingham is very active in the community. He has coached all his sons,” Cosley said. “They have done so much at this court house and locally, and that’s why they deserve special recognition.”
