Party like it’s the summer solstice

The Wheeling Park District is celebrating the Summer Solstice with a free Fiesta del Sol celebration from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Chamber Park, 213 N. Wolf Road, Wheeling.

The public is invited to welcome the summer sun and participate in a variety of activities for the whole family. Music, crafts, games, food and entertainment add to the fun for everyone.

Children of all ages can play in three large inflatable rides, including the 180-degree turnaround obstacle course, Chuggy Choo-Choo obstacle course and the deluxe Soccer Fever dual sports cage. Making picture frames and sun tambourines are some of the crafts that take place indoors in the Chamber Park Church. Piñatas and other games are offered outside.

DJ Jesus keeps the music spinning. A selection of snacks and refreshments, including steak and pork tacos from Los Posadas, churros and chicharron from Lupita’s Bakery and cookies from Mariana’s, are for sale. The Wheeling Historical Museum, also on the park grounds, is open for visitors.
