Libertyville garden walk is June 25

The Town & Country Garden Club of Libertyville is hosting a Garden Walk and Bazaar on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine.

The beautiful gardens of five club members will be featured on the walk. The ticket prices are $15 if purchased before June 25 and $20 on the day of the walk. There will be one raffle ticket included with each purchase, and additional raffle tickets are 3 for $5.

The walk will feature the gardens of Mary Burmeister, Innsbruck Court, Libertyville. This low maintenance yard is beautified by large areas of ferns, ground cover and especially hosta. Her variegated hosta dates to more than 80 years ago when her mother was given a clump from an aunt’s garden in Menominee Falls, Wis. Every time her mother moved she took a clump with her and divided and divided. Mary has followed the same tradition every time she moved.

The bazaar and raffle location is the David Adler Cultural Center, 1700 N. Milwaukee Avenue (just north of Adler Park) in Libertyville. Tickets may be purchased through members of the garden club, at the Farmers Market on Thursday, June 23, at the bazaar, and at the gardens on the day of the walk.

For tickets, information, or the location of the gardens, contact Barbara at (847) 971-6622 or T.C.GardenWalk@gmail.com.

In an effort to support and beautify the Village of Libertyville, the Town and Country Garden Club of Libertyville plants gardens at the Centennial Bell, the Civic Center, Cook Mansion, Adler Cultural Center, the Blue Star Marker in Cook Park and Cook Memorial Library.

The members also work with seniors at the Civic Center to help them plant flowers and assist with the “Gardening Together” project for Habitat for Humanity homeowners by mentoring families by helping with the design and planting of their gardens.

The club also makes donations to the Libertyville Township Food Pantry, Libertyville grade schools (flower books for their libraries), and the Arbor Day Project at Adler School.
