Make certain your adopted pet is spayed
Our family adopted Chloe in June 2002 from a well-known shelter. She was a very energetic 10-month-old lab mix. When we adopted her, we were told she was spayed; the adoption papers confirmed it and the shelter’s policy was not to let dogs go until they were spayed. Eight years later, she became deathly ill. We took her to the vet to find she had pyometra, a uterine infection that dogs can get only if they are not spayed.
We are an animal loving family and want others to know to ask, check and verify. I don’t know how were going to pay the $1,800 vet bill, but she’s a member of our family. How can you put a price on that? Please get the word out so other families don’t have to go through this like we did
