Wis. heavy rain causes flooding, high wind cuts power
MILWAUKEE — Severe thunderstorms caused urban flooding and knocked out power to thousands in southeastern Wisconsin.
Milwaukee public works employees barricaded flooded streets and underpasses after the area was hit by two waves of torrential rain and high wind Tuesday. We Energies made progress on restoring power to 16,000 customers who lost service during the storms.
Public works officials say the City of Milwaukee received about 150 complaints of flooded basements.
The Journal Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/iSwzgE ) there was an unconfirmed report of a tornado southeast of Ripon in Fond du Lac County.
