Ÿ A local business owner stumbled upon a burglary in progress Monday afternoon at a warehouse he recently acquired on the 700 block of Tollgate Road, police said. The man met his business partner at the warehouse at 4 p.m. He heard a noise in the building and found three men loading metal objects and copper pipes into a Chevrolet pickup truck. After consulting with his colleagues in Spanish, one of the men told the business owner that someone told him it was OK to be there. The owner told them to wait there and got in his car, but the men in the pickup truck drove around him. He followed them and called the police. He stopped pursuing them when they got onto Interstate 90 eastbound. The owner was able to get the license plate number of the burglars. He told police the previous tenant left for another state a few weeks earlier.

Ÿ A woman reported that her 1994 Acura Integra had been taken from the parking lot of her apartment building between 2 and 7 a.m. Monday, police said. The woman told police the car was locked. Based on the lack of evidence at the scene and the woman’s behavior, the officer did not believe the vehicle had been stolen, and told the woman so. Still, the officer entered the car into a stolen vehicle database.

Ÿ A wallet was taken from a Dodge Caravan parked in a lot on the 1500 block of Meyer Street sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning, police said. The wallet did not have any cash or credit cards, but the owner’s license and firearm registration card were in it. The owner said one of the van’s windows was open overnight.
