Maine West carnival starts Thursday

Maine West High School’s athletic boosters will conduct a four-day carnival at the school starting Thursday. The event, known as West Fest, is a fundraiser for the Maine West Booster Association, a nonprofit group supporting the school’s athletic programs. The Des Plaines city council Monday night waived a zoning code restriction that limits carnivals to no more than two days to approve the high school’s carnival. West Fest will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday and run through 10:30 p.m. Carnival hours are 6 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, 2 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
