Arlington Hts. toddler fine after 4-story fall

A 2-year-old girl was “miraculously” unscathed after she fell from out of the fourth-floor window of an Arlington Heights apartment Tuesday morning, according to police.

A neighbor of the apartment building on the 1200 block of South New Wilke Road called 911 at 10:29 a.m. after the 2-year-old girl's mother realized her daughter fell out the window, said Arlington Heights police Cmdr. Michael Miljan.

Police said the girl was climbing on a bed next to a fourth-floor window when she pushed out the screen and fell onto grass below.

Paramedics arriving at the scene found the mother holding her daughter, who did not have any obvious external injuries, Miljan said.

“That was miraculous,” Miljan said. “The kid will have a lot to talk about the rest of her life.”

The girl was taken to Northwest Community Hospital for observation but was apparently unharmed, according to police.

“It doesn't appear that this is a neglect issue,” Miljan said.
