Scouting report: White Sox vs. Cubs

White Sox vs. Cubs at U.S. Cellular Field

TV: Comcast SportsNet and WCIU today and Wednesday; Comcast SportsNet and WGN Tuesday

Radio: WSCR 670-AM/WGN 730-AM

Pitching matchups: The Sox' Gavin Floyd (6-6) vs. Carlos Zambrano (5-4) today; Mark Buehrle (6-5) vs. Matt Garza (3-6) Tuesday; Jake Peavy (2-1) vs. Doug Davis (1-5) Wednesday. All games start at 7:10 p.m.

About the White Sox: They lead the all-time interleague series 41-37 and they've won 7 of the last 9 and 11 of the last 15 against the Cubs. Last year, the Sox were 4-2 vs. the North Siders. Floyd was on the losing end of a memorable matchup with Cubs starter Ted Lilly last season, pitching a no-hitter for 6⅔ innings. Juan Pierre broke up Lilly's no-hitter with a pinch single leading off the ninth. Floyd has allowed only 2 earned runs in 15 innings during 2 career starts against the Cubs. Peavy is expected to be activated off the disabled list and start Wednesday's game. The right-hander made a rehab start for Class AAA Charlotte on Thursday, allowing 2 hits over 6 shutout innings while striking out nine. Peavy injured his right groin during a June 5 start against the Tigers.

About the Cubs: They entered Sunday 100-110 against American League teams since interleague play began in 1997. They also were looking to win consecutive series for the first time since last Sept. 27-Oct. 3. Zambrano melted down during last year's start at U.S. Cellular Field, forcing him into anger-management counseling. Against Adam Dunn, Zambrano has allowed 7 home runs and 18 walks. The Sox' Paul Konerko is 9-for-29 with 4 homers off Zambrano. Look for Reed Johnson to start against lefty Buehrle. Johnson is 10-for-27 with 3 doubles off Buehrle. The Cubs are 13-20 away from Wrigley Field this year.

Next for Sox: Washington Nationals at U.S. Cellular Field, Friday-Sunday
