Kenosha woman crowned Miss Wisconsin
OSHKOSH, Wis. — A Kenosha woman who was the second runner-up in last year's Miss Wisconsin pageant took home the crown on her second try.
Laura Kaeppeler was crowned Miss Wisconsin 2011 on Saturday at the event at Oshkosh West High School.
The 23-year-old Kaeppeler won a $10,000 college scholarship and will represent the state at the 2012 Miss America Scholarship Pageant.
She has a bachelor's degree in music education and vocal performance from Carthage College. For the talent competition, she sang a classical aria.
Her platform is mentoring children whose parents are in jail.
Raenna Johnson of Holmen was the first runner-up. She wins a $2,000 scholarship.
