Brooklyn man shot dead in restaurant

BROOKLYN — Police in southwestern Illinois are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man who was gunned down in a Brooklyn restaurant.

Madison County Coroner Stephen Nonn says Charlie Barnes was standing in the doorway of the Chicken in a Box restaurant Sunday when someone opened the door and opened fire.

Barnes was shot multiple times in the abdomen and pronounced dead at Gateway Regional Medical Center.
