Hospice offers program for grieving families

Herbie’s Friends, a program to help grieving families cope with loss, grief and death, is being offered by Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice.

The program will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, June 29 to July 27 at the hospice, 200 Whitfield Drive, Geneva. There is no cost to attend the program, and it is open to all families living in the Fox Valley area. Spanish interpretation is available. Registration is required by Wednesday, June 22.

Herbie’s Friends is for families with children ages 5 to 18 who have experienced a death loss — be it a spouse/parent, child/sibling, grandparent, or other significant person. The program helps unify grieving families at a time when they have to reconstruct themselves and find a way to go on. It is avsafe environment where participants who have experienced a loss can share their thoughts, feelings and stories with others who have experienced a similar loss.
