Lake County jail inmate accused of harassment

A 47-year-old Antioch man was charged with harassment of a witness and violation of order of protection Friday, police said.

Robert Westin already was in the Lake County jail on domestic battery charges against the same victim, who has a two-year order of protection against him.

Antioch police investigated a report that Westin made many phone calls and sent a letter to the victim from the Lake County jail.

Judge Raymond Collins issued an arrest warrant for Westin and set his bail at $100,000.

Harassment of a witness carries a prison sentence of three to seven years after a conviction. Violation of order of protection carries a prison sentence of one to three years.

“This is another example of the Antioch PD domestic violence unit working in conjunction with the Lake County state’s attorney’s office and the sheriff’s office to provide a line of defense for domestic violence victims,” Antioch Police Chief Craig Somerville said.

Westin remains in the Lake County jail.
