Elgin

Ÿ A wallet containing $150 in cash was stolen from a Ford Explorer parked on Haverman Court between midnight and 6 a.m. Thursday, police said. Keys to the vehicle and the owner’s house also were taken. An officer suggested the truck change her locks.

Ÿ Ten dollars in change was taken between 4 p.m. Monday and 5:20 a.m. Wednesday from an unlocked Nissan Altima parked on the 300 block of North Spring Street, police said.

Ÿ A 42-year-old woman suspects a former roommate stole her identity and used it to make vehicle-related purchases, police said. The woman discovered her identity had been stolen in May, when she received a letter from an auto shop saying she had a lien of $2,450 on her 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager, as well as outstanding bills for service. The woman has never owned a Grand Voyager. She also suspects her former roommate, who lived with her for two months in 2009 and 2010, of buying a 1994 Saturn in her name and registering the license plates in her name. The victim canceled the plates.

Ÿ A woman was awakened by burglars in her home at 1:50 a.m. Friday on the 400 block of Addison Street, police said. The woman called police when she heard noises coming from the back of her house. Before police came, she saw her kitchen door close behind someone. The officer discovered a rear window had been opened, and an overturned garbage can had been placed under the window. The woman’s credit cards were lying on the dining table, but nothing had been taken.

Ÿ Three vehicles belonging to an Elgin family were broken into on the 700 block of Parkway Avenue between 9:30 p.m. Thursday and 5:10 a.m. Friday, police said. The vehicles were parked in the family’s driveway and on the street. A GPS device and an iPod were taken. The doors on the vehicles had been locked.

Ÿ A man left Blackjack’s Gentlemen’s Club, 7N657 Route 25 near South Elgin, at 8:30 p.m. Thursday without paying his $150 bar tab, police said.

Ÿ Someone shot a copper BB into a window of a home in the 36W100 block of Hollowside Drive near West Dundee between 7 p.m. June 10 and 9 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

Ÿ A bridesmaid’s wallet was stolen between 2 p.m. June 3 and 6 a.m. June 4 from the bride’s room at a wedding reception at the Milk Pail, 14N630 Route 25 near East Dundee, police said.
