Meadowview children help in cancer fight
Children at Meadowview School in Grayslake recently helped to raise nearly $2,500 for the American Cancer Society, officials announced Thursday. The effort was called a Mini-Relay for Life, modeled after a similarly named event adults stage annually. About $500 was raised from five-for-$1 raffle tickets the students bought for a chance to win several prizes donated by the Grayslake business community, along with village government and the park district. Roughly $2,000 came from contributions to the American Cancer Society made by the students’ parents. The money will be rolled into the annual local Relay for Life event. Meadowview is part of the Grayslake Elementary District 46 system and serves kindergarten through fourth grade.
