Residents invited to be Smart Grid Initiative Ambassadors

Volunteers Will Help Educate the Community on this Exciting Initiative

The City of Naperville is seeking volunteers from the community to learn more about the exciting Naperville Smart Grid Initiative (NSGI) and share this knowledge with friends, family, neighbors and other community members.

NSGI Ambassadors should be committed to the City's clean, efficient, reliable and modern energy future and serve in a variety of capacities. Individuals interested in participating in the NSGI Ambassadors Program must attend an orientation and undergo a background check. Informational meetings/orientation sessions about the Ambassadors Program will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 25 at 9 a.m. at the Electric Service Center, 1392 Aurora Ave. Those interested in attending an orientation should first fill out the interest form available at www.naperville.il.us/nsgiambassadors.aspx and return it to the specified contact prior to attending an orientation session.

Some of the responsibilities of NSGI Ambassadors could include:

• Building a detailed understanding of the NSGI and its benefits for utility customers

• Answering general questions about the NSGI, the meter installation, process and the ePortal, a secure, user-friendly website where customers can view their energy use, learn about voluntary new energy programs and make utility account choices, if they choose

• Providing information on voluntary rate programs

• Distributing informative materials

• Gathering feedback from the community

Ambassadors may also be asked to make presentations at community forums using visual aids and answer customer questions. For more information about the NSGI Ambassadors Program, visit www.naperville.il.us/nsgiambassadors.aspx.

The NSGI is preparing Naperville for an increased demand on the city's electrical grid and the future of energy conservation. This exciting project involves a combination of utility infrastructure upgrades, operational efficiencies and new tools and programs designed to give customers more choices and control over their energy use.
