Democrats reckless on budget issues
One of the left’s favorite cliches is “sustainability,” usually in an environmental context roughly meaning “the capacity to endure.” One of their most beloved beliefs about themselves is that, unlike conservatives, they possess “nuanced thinking” or the ability to “denote a slight variation or differentiation between nearly identical entities: sensitive to delicate nuances of style; gradations ...” While the evidence is specious at best, the attitude toward the debt is nothing short of delusional.
Which brings us to Medicare. Paul Ryan from Wisconsin has crafted a courageous and systemic piece of legislation designed to trim $6 billion (with a “B”) from the deficit, which is currently at $14 billion. The Democratic Senate predictably voted it down. No counterproposals, no discussion, no new ideas, no creativity, certainly no nuance, just no. Just leave an unsustainable program alone until it blows up.
Oh, and then there is my favorite part. The lie that the proposal takes away Medicare benefits from senior citizens who already have them. In fact, the proposal would not touch anyone 55 or over at all!
So let’s at least just tell the truth. The left is simply reckless and irresponsible. Reckless: marked by lack of proper caution, careless of consequences. Irresponsible: said, done or characterized by a lack of a sense of responsibility: not capable of or qualified for responsibility, as due to age, circumstances or a mental deficiency. Not responsible, answerable, or accountable to higher authority.
Yeah, now there is an accurate description!
