Foster donates Weiner funds to food bank
Batavia scientist Bill Foster, the former congressman who plans to run in the newly drawn 11th District, has donated $1,000 to the St. Charles-based Northern Illinois Food Bank, following calls by the Illinois GOP to return what it calls a “tainted contribution.”
According to the Federal Election Commission, Foster in 2008 was given $1,000 by Anthony Weiner, the New York congressman who has been soundly criticized both within and outside his party for his sexual conversations with women other than his wife via social media.
Foster noted in an email that the contribution from Weiner was made on March 7, 2008, for the March 2008 special election, before Foster was elected or, he says, even had a chance to meet Rep. Weiner.
