3 arrested on gun charges in Waukegan
A Beach Park man and two Waukegan men have been charged with unlawful use of a weapon after police responding to a report of “shots fired” last week found the men in possession of a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number, authorities said Tuesday.
Police spotted a white Ford Expedition speeding from where the shots were reported fired, and during the course of the traffic stop they found a loaded 9 mm Ruger handgun, authorities said.
Rahquan Duffie, 26, of the 38300 block of Imperial Lane in Beach Park, Donyelle Roberts, 34, of the 1400 block of North Avenue in Waukegan, and Larry Jackson, 22, of the 1700 block of Lorraine Place in Waukegan were all charged with unlawful use of a weapon, according to authorities.
Police made the arrests about 9:30 p.m. June 8 while responding to the 500 block of South Martin Luther King Dr. Avenue.
Larry Jackson was also charged with two counts of residential burglary after police were able to link him to two unsolved burglaries during the course of their investigation, authorities said.
Waukegan Police Chief Daniel Greathouse lauded not only his department’s aggressive patrol resulting in removal of a gun from the streets, but also its teamwork resulting in cracking two unsolved burglaries.
Authorities said Jackson confessed to the two burglaries and police were able to recover some of the stolen items.
