Reality TV star Amber Portwood threatens suicide

ANDERSON, Ind. — Police say a star of the MTV reality show "Teen Mom" has been hospitalized after threatening suicide in her hometown.

Anderson Police Detective Mitch Carroll issued a statement saying police went to a residence in the central Indiana city Tuesday after a caller said 21-year-old Amber Portwood was depressed and threatening to end her life.

Carroll says Portwood did not appear to be injured and was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation.

Her attorney, Robert Schembs of Indianapolis, had no immediate comment Wednesday.

Portwood last week pleaded guilty to two counts of domestic battery as part of a deal in which she was placed on two years' probation and prosecutors dropped a felony child neglect charge.
