Elgin museum to host Brown Bag Lunch

The Elgin Area Historical Society Museum, 360 Park St. in Elgin, will hold its Brown Bag Lunch at noon Thursday, June 16, with the Elgin Barbershoppers, who will entertain with their musical harmonies.

Bring your lunch; drinks and dessert provided. It is free for museum members, $3 for nonmembers.

On Thursday, June 30, the museum will hold docent training at 7 p.m. for current docents and those considering becoming a docent. Meet at the museum to hear Elgin Community College history professor Tim Malone speak on the United States at the turn of the 20th century.

He will discuss how Elgin’s development mirrors national trends and what life was like from 1870 to 1910. Admission is free.
