Stovall, Cuthbert power Cougars

Ryan Stovall and Cheslor Cuthbert each belted a 2-run homer Sunday to lift the Kane County Cougars to a 5-4 victory over the Dayton Dragons at Elfstrom Stadium.

The win snapped the Cougars’ losing streak at four, and they finished their six-game homestand with a 2-4 mark.

The Cougars were down 1-0 in the third when Stovall nailed his 2-run shot for a 2-1 lead. Stovall owns an eight-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 20 games in a row.

As a result, Ventura fell one out shy of qualifying for a win. He gave up 1 unearned run on 1 hit, walked none and fanned six in the no-decision.
