Elk Grove Township showing its incompetence

The Elk Grove Township organization, which is under the misguided leadership of Nanci Vanderweel fails to provide correction to noted issues for flooding in the Itasca Farm Meadows section of Elk Grove Township. This is a problem that needs to be further investigated and reported.

In late 2009, I presented my findings regarding a problem with manner in which Lincoln Street is “pitched” to the entire board and asked the street be corrected to ensure that the water flowed into the sewers that were installed in Itasca Farm Meadows years before.

In spite of my many photographs of the water problem, NOTHING has been done to correct this issue after almost two years. Each time we have heavy rains the water continues to flow into the yards on the east side of Lincoln Street.

The township wasted more tax dollars by hiring an engineering firm that provided erroneous findings. And then in order to appease the neighborhood, the township simply paved over the street instead of correcting the problem.

So, after wasting both time and money, the problem is exactly the way it was two years ago! How many of us could keep our jobs if we allowed problems to be unfixed for two years?

I believe that lack of activity is yet another indication of how our tax dollars are being wasted and how our elected officials continue to run with their own agenda instead of working with the taxpayers. We have every right (to expect) our issues (will be) addressed and resolved, especially when those issues create problems that affect the overall value of our real estate.

I truly believe (Elk Grove Township board members) are responsible for our flooding issues by the very lack of attention and their choice to ignore the voiced concerns of the people. And because of their choice to ignore this problem, I truly believe that we should expect their immediate resignation from their positions.
