Legislators hold mortgage relief event

The Illinois Mortgage Relief Project can help property owners at risk of losing their homes to take advantage of new government programs to lower mortgage payments and avoid foreclosure.

Interested parties can learn more at an outreach event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood St. Staff from the Illinois Attorney General’s office will be on hand to help participants recognize the telltale signs of mortgage fraud. The session is presented by state Sen. Susan Garrett, state Reps. Elaine Nekritz and Karen May and U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky.
