Lake County talks hazard mitigation plan

The Local Planning Committee to update Lake County’s hazard mitigation plan will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Lake County Central Permit Facility, 500 W. Winchester Road in Libertyville.

The LPC will identify priorities and discuss funding of potential actions. Federal authorities require the plan to be updated every five years.

Once the plan is approved and adopted, local communities and Lake County will be eligible for pre- and post-disaster funding to reduce future damages.

Lake County’s plan focuses on natural hazards, including floods, thunderstorms, tornadoes and winter/ice storms.
