Downstate men charged with breaking into bar

GODFREY, Ill. — A 23-year-old southwestern Illinois man is charged with breaking into a bar by crawling through the building’s exhaust system.

The Madison County sheriff’s office says Dray Perkinson of Godfrey snuck into the Beer Barrel Pub this week and made off with bottles of liquor, cigarettes and cash.

Perkinson was arrested at his home, where some of the stolen items were recovered.

He was charged Friday with felony burglary and is being held on $75,000 bond.

Perkinson has a series of prior arrests and convictions for residential burglary and driving under the influence.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether he’s retained an attorney for the most recent case.
