Chronic pain workshop in Hoffman Estates

In an effort to assist people in coping with chronic pain and illness, the Village of Hoffman Estates Department of Health and Human Services is hosting a workshop from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the village hall, 1900 Hassell Road. At the workshop, participants will learn to live with chronic pain or illness, change expectations, learn how to grieve the loss of plans, explore lifestyle changes and talk about explaining the illness to loved ones. Headaches and chronic pain affect 16 million people in the United States. Even with this many people experiencing pain, many do not seek help. Chronic pain includes arthritis, migraine, stomach pain, TMJ disorder, muscle pain, post-cancer treatment pain, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome and neck pain.
