Batiava church hosts charity sewing workshops
Submitted by Congregational Church of Batavia
Back by popular demand, a sewing workshop for Haitian children will be held Wednesday, June 15 with two sessions: the first session from 1 to 4 p.m. and second session from 6 to 9 p.m. Select the one that will be best for you or attend both.
Pillowcases will be transformed into dresses and T-shirts into shorts. The new creations will be delivered to Haiti by a team of local volunteers and distributed in orphanages and tent cities in July. If you can sew, trace a pattern, iron or cut materials, you are welcomed. Men, women, and youth are invited to attend. Donations for supplies for the event are welcomed: 3/8-inch elastic, 1-inch elastic, 1/2-inch double fold bias tape (any color), trim for dresses, pillowcases.
The workshop will be held at Congregational Church of Batavia, 21 S. Batavia Ave. To reserve your spot or for more details, email dresses4haiti@gmail.com or call (630) 879-1999. Reservations are requested.
