Disaster benefit Sunday in Wheeling
A dinner and dance will be held Sunday at AMVETS Post 66, 700 McHenry Road in Wheeling, from 3 to 9 p.m. in an effort to raise money victims of the recent tornadoes in America and earthquake/tsunami disaster in Japan.
A surprise guest will be attending the benefit dinner, organizer Joe Taksin said. Village President Judy Abruscato will give a surprise presentation, Taksin said.
Parents of “American Idol” contestant Haley Reinhart, Patti and Harry Reinhart, will be headlining the event with their band Midnight. The Vinyl Covers, Greg Spero, Peter Spero and North Bound Train will also be performing, Taksin said.
Tickets are $15 per person and that price includes dinner, a donation and entertainment. Guests can also purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win gifts and a split-the-pot cash prize. Proceeds will go to the American Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.
Weather permitting, the event will be held outdoors.
