Man charged with shooting girls in park

A felon has been charged in connection with a shooting that wounded two young girls who were playing in a Chicago park.

Authorities say 22-year-old Antonio Bucio has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm in the shooting of the girls, ages 2 and 7. The 7-year-old is reported in stable condition and the 2-year-old is reported in good condition at a Chicago hospital.

According to police, a man got out of a van around 8 p.m. Wednesday and fired at a group of people playing basketball in Avondale Park. None of the people being targeted were wounded.

According to Cook County court records, Bucio has convictions for retail theft and burglary. He is scheduled for a Saturday bond hearing.
